Publication Ethics and Publication Malpractice Statement
Publication Ethics and Publication Malpractice Statement
The International Online Journal of Education and Teaching (IOJET) is committed to maintaining high standards of publication ethics and takes all reasonable measures to prevent publication malpractice. The journal aims to publish original scholarly work that contributes meaningfully to the academic community and upholds principles of honesty, transparency, and academic responsibility.
IOJET expects ethical conduct from all parties involved in the publication process. Authors are expected to present their work honestly and responsibly, reviewers to evaluate submissions fairly and confidentially, and editors to manage the editorial process with integrity and independence. These shared responsibilities are essential for maintaining trust in scholarly publishing.
IOJET aligns its ethical practices with internationally recognized guidelines, including those of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and wma & other relevant international declarations and standards. Authors, reviewers, editors, and editorial board members are required to adhere to the ethical principles outlined below.
Responsibilities of Authors
Reporting Standards
Authors must present their research findings clearly, accurately, and honestly. Data fabrication, falsification, or inappropriate manipulation is considered unethical. Manuscripts should include sufficient methodological detail, including research design, data collection, and analysis procedures, to allow readers to assess the validity of the work.
Originality and Plagiarism
Authors must submit original work. Any use of the ideas, data, or words of others must be properly cited. Plagiarism in any form, including self-plagiarism without disclosure, is unacceptable and may result in rejection or retraction.
Multiple or Redundant Publication
Authors should not submit the same or substantially similar manuscripts to more than one journal at the same time. Duplicate or concurrent submissions are considered unethical publishing practices.
Acknowledgement of Sources
All sources of funding, institutional support, or significant assistance contributing to the research must be clearly acknowledged in the manuscript.
Authorship
Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the study. Contributors who do not meet authorship criteria should be acknowledged appropriately.
Conflicts of Interest
Authors must disclose any financial, institutional, or personal relationships that could influence the interpretation of their research. All funding sources must be stated clearly.
Fundamental Errors
If authors discover a significant error or omission in their published work, they are obliged to inform the journal promptly and cooperate with the editors to issue a correction or retraction if necessary.
Responsibilities of Reviewers
Role in the Review Process
All manuscripts undergo initial editorial screening followed by double-blind peer review by independent experts. Reviewers support editorial decisions by providing informed, constructive, and objective evaluations.
Confidentiality
Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. Reviewers must not share or discuss the manuscript with others without authorization from the editor.
Objectivity
Reviews should be conducted objectively and respectfully. Personal criticism of authors is inappropriate. Reviewers should support their comments with clear and reasoned arguments.
Acknowledgement of Sources
Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors and inform the editor of any substantial similarity between the manuscript under review and other published work.
Responsibilities of Editors
Confidentiality
Editors must not disclose information about submitted manuscripts to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, editorial advisers, or the publisher, as appropriate.
Editorial Independence
Editors are responsible for deciding which manuscripts are published based solely on academic merit, originality, clarity, and relevance to the journal’s scope. Editorial decisions are made without discrimination and are independent of external influence.
Conflicts of Interest
Editors must not use unpublished information from submitted manuscripts for their own research without the author’s explicit consent. Editors should recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where conflicts of interest exist.
Ethical Oversight
Editors are responsible for safeguarding the integrity of the scholarly record. When ethical concerns arise, they must take appropriate action, including issuing corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern where necessary.
Responsibilities of the Editorial Board
Members of the Editorial Board are expected to:
-
Maintain confidentiality regarding submitted manuscripts
-
Disclose any conflicts of interest
-
Evaluate manuscripts based solely on academic merit
-
Support the editorial process through expert advice and decision-making
